"Captain Mike is an incredible boat captain! The ride out on the water was scenic and beautiful. He quickly took us to the perfect spot and set us up with rods, jigs, and the confidence to reel in some big catches. He was super friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to share his love of fishing with our group. Despite being seasoned fishermen and women, we didn't know the area well enough to find the best spots, but he made our day amazing! When we returned to shore, he promptly cleaned and bagged our catch, and shared a cold beverage with his wonderful wife and us." - kaviya

Blob Sculpin: Don't let their ugly mugs fool you – these deep-sea dwellers are a rare and exciting catch. Blob sculpins typically hang out in depths of 3,000 to 8,700 feet, so landing one is a real trophy. They're not the prettiest fish in the sea, with their gelatinous bodies and grumpy expressions, but they're a bucket-list catch for many serious anglers. Best targeted in colder months, these odd-looking creatures can grow up to 30 inches long.
Black Buffalo: These freshwater giants are a prized catch for any angler. Black buffalo can grow over 4 feet long and weigh up to 80 pounds, offering an epic battle on the line. They're bottom feeders, so we'll be using heavy sinkers and natural baits to tempt them. Spring and fall are prime times to target these bruisers, as they move into shallower waters to feed. The thrill of hooking into one of these powerful fish is something you won't soon forget.
California Kingcroaker: Also known as the white seabass, these fish are the royalty of the California coast. They're not actually croakers, but they're related, and they can grow to over 90 pounds. We'll be targeting them with live bait or artificial lures, often in the early morning or late evening when they're most active. Spring and summer are the best seasons to catch these silver beauties. The fight they put up and their delicious meat make them a favorite among local anglers.
Atlantic Herring: These silvery schooling fish might be small, but they're the backbone of the ocean ecosystem and a blast to catch in numbers. We'll be using light tackle and small lures or sabiki rigs to fill the cooler with these tasty morsels. Herring run in massive schools, so when we find them, the action can be non-stop. They're most abundant in the cooler months, and while they might not be trophy fish, they're excellent eating and perfect for smoking or pickling.
Alligator Gar: These prehistoric-looking beasts are the stuff of fishing legends. Alligator gar can grow over 8 feet long and weigh more than 300 pounds, with a mouth full of razor-sharp teeth. We'll be using heavy tackle and wire leaders to target these river monsters. They're most active in the warmer months, and catching one is like hooking into a submarine. The sheer size and prehistoric appearance of these fish make them a bucket-list catch for many anglers.
Our shared trips are more than just a fishing outing – they're a chance to make new friends, learn from fellow anglers, and experience the thrill of the chase together. The camaraderie on board is second to none, with everyone cheering each other on as the rods bend and the reels scream. Plus, splitting the cost means you get all the excitement of offshore fishing without emptying your wallet. Our experienced crew knows how to put you on the fish and make sure everyone gets a fair shot at the action.
Don't let another fishing season pass you by. Our shared offshore trips are filling up fast, and with only four spots per boat, you'll want to lock in your date soon. Alligator Gar are the prehistoric monsters of our rivers. These armor-plated beasts can stretch 6 feet long and top 100 pounds, with a mouthful of needle-sharp teeth. You'll find them in the slow-moving rivers and backwaters of the southern U.S., especially in Texas and Louisiana. Late summer is prime time when hot, dry weather concentrates them in deep pools. Anglers chase these fish for the thrill - they're tough to hook and even tougher to land. Bowfishing is popular, but for catch-and-release, use heavy tackle and wire leaders. Bait up with cut carp or shad on a big treble hook under a large float. Here's a local trick: fish the deep bends next to shallow water, and be patient. When that float disappears, hold on tight - you're in for a battle with a living fossil!

Atlantic Herring might be small, but they're a big deal in the fishing world. These silvery, torpedo-shaped fish average 8-15 inches long and school by the millions. You'll find them in coastal waters and open ocean, usually 30-300 feet deep. Late summer and early fall is prime time, as they gather to spawn near shore. While they're mostly targeted by commercial boats, adventurous anglers can get in on the action. Head offshore and look for massive schools - sometimes visible from the surface. Troll with small lures or try jigging when you find a concentration. Herring aren't known for their fight, but the sheer numbers can make for exciting fishing. Plus, they're excellent eating fresh or smoked. Here's a tip: watch for diving birds to locate schools. And if you hear what sounds like underwater farts, you've found them - they're nicknamed "farting fish" for a reason!

Black Buffalo are hefty freshwater fish, typically 20-30 inches long and 10-30 pounds. You'll find them in deep, fast-moving sections of large rivers and reservoirs across the Midwest and South. These bronze-colored bruisers love strong currents and put up a solid fight when hooked. Spring is prime time, as they move to shallower, flooded areas to spawn when temps hit the mid-60s. Anglers target them for the challenge - they're notoriously hard to catch on rod and reel. Many folks consider them a bucket list fish. To up your odds, try night fishing in shallow water using specialized bows and arrows. If you're sticking with hook and line, patience is key. Use heavy tackle and bait up with corn, dough balls, or cut bait. When you feel that telltale thump, set the hook hard - these guys have tough mouths!

The Blob Sculpin is one odd-looking deep-sea fish you won't soon forget. Averaging about a foot long, these gelatinous creatures hang out in the darkest depths, 1,600 to 9,000 feet down. Their squishy bodies help them handle the intense pressure, but when brought up, they turn into a sad, deflated blob. Despite their goofy appearance, they're actually ambush predators, using that big mouth to gulp down crustaceans and worms. You'll only catch these guys as bycatch when deep-dropping for other species. If you do hook one, expect a 12-28 inch fish weighing up to 20 pounds. They're not edible and put up zero fight, but make for a wild photo op. My tip? Use large hooks baited with shrimp or crab to tempt them. Just be ready for some weird looks when you show off your catch!

California Kingcroaker, also called corbina, are a surf angler's dream. These sleek, silver fish with a hint of iridescence average 10-13 inches but can reach up to 28 inches and 8.5 pounds. You'll find them cruising the surf zone, often in just inches of water. Summer and fall are peak seasons. Anglers love targeting them for their challenging fight in the waves and their tasty meat. To catch one, focus on sandy beaches and shallow bays. Use a high/low surf leader with size 2-4 hooks baited with anchovy strips, bloodworms, or sand crabs. Here's a pro tip: cast out, then reel in slowly to keep your line taut. These fish often hit as the bait sinks or right when it hits bottom. Be ready to set the hook fast - they're quick biters! Early mornings and evenings are usually best for corbina action.
